National removal skills provider BAR Training Services (BARTS), the training division of the British Association of Removers (BAR) has won the 'Most Innovative BTEC Apprenticeship Provider of the Year' award at the 2012 National BTEC Awards in recognition of the first ever removals specific Apprenticeship the 'Commercial Moving Apprenticeship'. This Apprenticeship was designed specifically for the commercial moving industry by BARTS and the BAR Commercial Moving Group (CMG) and is delivered nationally by BARTS.
The awards ceremony, held in London on Thursday 5th July, recognised almost one million students around the UK who are currently studying BTEC qualifications. Pearson, who own Edexcel, the awarding body for BTECs, received over 500 nominations across the 16 award categories for this year's Awards.
David Willetts, Minister for Universities and Science who attended the awards ceremony, said: "These awards rightly celebrate the practical skills and knowledge which will help our economy grow and remain competitive with the rest of the world. "I congratulate all of this years award winners who have shown tremendous dedication in their work and who can all be very proud of what they have achieved."
The National BTEC Awards 2012 is now in its second year and celebrates outstanding individuals and centres alongside recognising vocational excellence. The expert panel of judges said they were extremely impressed by the BARTS entry citing the 'outstanding creativity and innovation in the delivery of their BTEC Apprenticeships' a major reason for winning the category. The judges also felt that BARTS excelled in 'finding new technologies and resources to improve learning and giving the best training opportunities for their apprentices'.
The award represents a major achievement and is recognition of the commitment of BARTS and the CMG to provide high quality, innovative and relevant training solutions to the industry.
The Commercial Moving Apprenticeship is delivered nationally by BARTS in partnership with West Herts College and Richard Harrington, Member of Parliament for Watford, said he was delighted by the success of BARTS and their training partner, West Herts College. "I am very proud of this achievement," he said. "I am very pleased with how the system is working, both locally in Watford with the local partnership between BARTS and West Herts College, and also nationally."
Winning a major National BTEC award will have a positive effect for the industry and, for the first time, will allow Commercial movers the ability to demonstrate to new and young people entering the Commercial Moving market a structured career path with quality training. This allows BAR commercial movers to guarantee consistent, professional service, quality, security and peace of mind to any customer when using a removal company displaying the BAR CMG badge.
